15th Athens Open Air Film Festival
Picture this: watching a classic film with the Acropolis as your backdrop, or catching a summer blockbuster on a sandy beach. Cinema under the stars is a cherished Athenian tradition during the city’s steamy summer months.
Now in its 15th year, the Athens Open Air Film Festival—co-organised by the Culture, Sports, and Youth Organisation of the City of Athens (OPANDA)—goes beyond traditional venues to transform the city’s most iconic and unexpected spots into unforgettable open-air cinemas. From ancient ruins and hidden courtyards to leafy parks and breezy beaches, you’ll enjoy blockbusters, cult classics, and gems of Greek cinema like never before.
Here are a few of the films you can catch this summer:
10 Jul, 9.30 pm, Full‑Moon Marathon: Wallace & Gromit, Manhattan Murder Mystery, Jagged Edge, Presumed Innocent, Stavros Niarchos Park (Full Moon Sleepover)
12 Jul, 9.45 pm, The Fog, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Plato’s Academy Park
14 Jul, 9.30 pm, The Lover (1990), Kotzia Square
17 Jul, 9 pm, Le Casse (1963) with Gabin & Delon, Anesis open-air cinema

21 Aug, 9 pm, India Song (1975; 120'), Anesis open-air cinema
And it’s not just films — expect concerts, short film premieres, and special events, all under the Mediterranean stars. It’s cinema, Athens-style. Just grab a seat (or a blanket) and enjoy the show.
