Last Friday, on 10 November during Philoxenia 2023, the members of the Greek Meetings Alliance (GMA) announced the creation of a new strategic partnership with the International Federation of Exhibition and Event Services (IFES). The new partnership will bring new business connections, major events, and more training opportunities to Greece. See more

The department of Cleanliness & Recycling of the City of Athens and the Athens-Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association launched a special label recognizing the commitment of local hotels to separate compostable waste. See more
The legendary open-air City of Athens Lycabettus Theatre officially opened its gates in September for fabulous performances and panoramic views. The restored and upgraded amphitheater seats 6,000 spectators. See more

The City of Athens hosted the meeting of the 4 Working Groups of the B40 Balkan Cities Network focusing on Smart Cities and Digital Transformation, Economic and Cultural Cooperation, Democracy and Migration, and Climate Action. See more

Welt: "Athens is the new Berlin!" („Athen ist das neue Berlin!“)
The National Observatory is the oldest scientific research institution in the Balkans. Today, the organization provides crucial data and predictions about the weather, seismic activity, ecological change and other scientific fields. The main building designed by the Danish architect Theophil Hansen was built between 1842-1845 with funding from Baron Simos Sinas, scion of a wealthy Greek family that founded the Bank of Austria and Europe’s first railroad. Greece’s first telescope was installed here in 1902. Story has it that this may once have been the observatory of the fifth-century-BC mathematician and astronomer Meton.
