Yorgos Lanthimos: Photographs at Onassis Stegi
Onassis Stegi presents the first exhibition in Greece dedicated to the photographic work of Yorgos Lanthimos. Best known for his singular cinematic language, Lanthimos turns here to still images, revealing another facet of his creative practice through four distinct bodies of work produced over the past five years.
The exhibition brings together photographs taken on and around film sets in New Orleans, Atlanta, and Budapest, including material created during the filming of Poor Things, Kinds of Kindness, and the more recent Bugonia, alongside a new and previously unseen series shot in Greece. Captured during solitary walks in Athens and on Aegean islands, these images offer a quieter, more introspective gaze, focusing on the everyday and the seemingly insignificant. Across all series, Lanthimos approaches the familiar with precision and restraint, allowing ambiguity, abstraction, and subtle unease to surface through composition and detail.
