Vienna Symphony Orchestra: Petr Popelka
As part of its major European tour, the historic Vienna Symphony Orchestra arrives at The Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) alongside Czech conductor Petr Popelka and Japanese pianist Mao Fujita. The performance pairs two towering cornerstones of the Austrian musical tradition: Mozart’s radiant Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major and Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 5, taking listeners on an emotional journey from dark grief to an exuberant affirmation of life inside Christos Lambrakis Hall.
If the music leaves you yearning for Central European grandeur, there is no need to feel nostalgic for Vienna while in town. You can easily soak up a similar elegance right here in the capital by exploring the 19th-century architectural heritage of Athens, where neoclassical mansions line the historic centre.
