Takis 1∞
This summer, the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation in Pangrati celebrates the centenary of Takis, one of Greece’s most visionary artists, with a major retrospective. The Athens leg of Takis 1∞ invites visitors into the artist’s world of invisible forces—where sculptures move without touch, magnets defy gravity, and sound is drawn out of thin air.
Takis’ experiments with magnetism began in the late 1950s, and from then on, his work danced between art and science. At the museum, just a short walk from the Panathenaic Stadium, you’ll encounter some of his most iconic pieces: from floating spheres and musical sculptures to rarely seen video works that flicker with electricity and imagination.
Organised across two venues (Athens and Andros), this is the most expansive exhibition of Takis’ work to date. But here in Pangrati, the focus is on energy, movement, and a kind of poetry that can only be felt when you stand still long enough to notice it.
