A Sunday Stroll with Maria Callas: Make Your Own Carte Postale in Athens
Right in the heart of Athens, across from the charming Mitropoleos Square, you’ll find a real gem – the Maria Callas Museum. It's the only museum in the world dedicated entirely to the life and legacy of the legendary opera diva, and this summer, it’s also the stage for something a little different... and a lot of fun.
Every Sunday, the square comes to life with colour, creativity, and the spirit of Maria Callas herself. Locals, tourists, families, and curious passers-by are all invited to join a lovely open-air activity: creating your own carte postale – a handmade postcard featuring a stencil portrait of Callas.
Whether you’re 5 or 75, you can take part – no experience needed, just a bit of imagination and a willingness to play with colour. It takes around 15 minutes, and you'll walk away with a keepsake that’s uniquely yours (and a little piece of Athens to carry home).
So if you’re wandering through the city centre on a Sunday morning, take a moment to stop, join in, and soak up a side of Athens where art, music, and community meet.
