Parklife: Leonard Cohen Tribute
Athens’ summer music calendar takes a reflective turn as Parklife at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) presents a special tribute to Leonard Cohen, one of the most distinctive voices in modern songwriting.
Held on the Great Lawn of the SNFCC Park, the event transforms one of the city’s most contemporary cultural landscapes into an open-air stage dedicated to Cohen’s poetic universe. Known for his deep, resonant voice and lyrical intensity, Cohen’s work continues to feel as much like poetry as song, making him a natural fit for a symphonic and multi-artist reinterpretation.
This tribute brings together a wide circle of Greek musicians and vocalists, alongside Adam Cohen, his son, in a programme that moves through different eras of his career, from the intimate melancholy of his early compositions to the more reflective, spiritual tone of his later work. Rather than a conventional concert, the evening unfolds as a collective homage, with each artist offering their own reading of Cohen’s legacy.
Set against the backdrop of the SNFCC’s landscaped park and the sea breeze drifting in from the Faliron Delta, the performance captures something essential about Athens in summer: the blending of high culture with relaxed, communal outdoor experience.
This is a free to attend event, a rare chance to hear one of music’s great songwriters reinterpreted in an open-air setting.
