Charles Sandison: The Athens Algorithm
Bernier Eliades presents The Athens Algorithm, the fourth solo exhibition of media artist Charles Sandison in Athens, on view from 27 November to 22 January. The opening will happen in the presence of the artist. Known for his pioneering video projections and generative digital environments, Sandison creates works that move like living systems, blending language, light and code.
Set in the city where philosophy and mathematics first converged, the exhibition reflects on how ideas travel through time and transform. At its heart is Ada Lovelace, whose vision of a poetic science imagined algorithms not just as tools of calculation but as expressions of thought. Sandison draws on this legacy to shape immersive installations where words shift, mutate and reassemble, echoing ancient logic while hinting at the intuitions of artificial intelligence. The result is a dialogue between myth and machine, emotion and analysis, Athens and the future.
