In the Footsteps of Writers: A Theatrical Walking Tour
Hidden beneath the postcard charm of Plaka lie the historic haunts of Greece's greatest literary icons. Co-created by the Maria Callas Museum, the National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation (MIET), and the Anemomyloi Theatre Company, this original theatrical walking tour brings the neighbourhood’s literary heritage to life. Through short dramatic performances, archival photos, and excerpts from personal letters, actor-guides lead participants through the quiet alleyways where figures such as George Seferis, Georgios Drossinis, and C. P. Cavafy lived and drew their inspiration.
Spanning 80 minutes, the promenade transforms the cobblestones into an outdoor stage, connecting famous verses directly to the history and everyday rhythms of Athens.
