Rooftop Cinema: Tilda Swinton – Ongoing
Summer in Athens is synonymous with open-air screenings, but this particular series takes the tradition to a completely new space. Head over to the industrial hub of Agios Ioannis Rentis, where the rooftop of Onassis Ready is transforming into a striking open-air cinema. Running alongside the major exhibition "Tilda Swinton – Ongoing," this carefully curated film program celebrates the boundary-defying career of one of modern cinema's most versatile icons.
Every Friday night (concluding with a special closing Saturday session), film lovers can catch six feature-length films that shaped Swinton's illustrious career and cemented her close collaborations with legendary filmmakers. Each feature is paired with a short film personally selected by Swinton herself, offering a rare glimpse into her personal cinematic inspirations. The lineup spans from her bold 1986 acting debut in Derek Jarman's Caravaggio to Jim Jarmusch's cult vampire masterpiece Only Lovers Left Alive, alongside contemporary masterpieces like Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Memoria and Pedro Almodovar’s The Room Next Door.
"How can you have lived for so long and still not get it?" Tilda Swinton as Eve in Only Lovers Left Alive.
