NEON City Project | Athens Dies In Dreams At Sunrise

NEON inaugurates its 2025 City Project with Athens Dies In Dreams At Sunrise, a new large scale installation by Alexandros Tzannis, at the Old Quarry on Philopappos Hill. Curated by Galini Noti, the work unfolds within one of Athens’s most atmospheric natural landscapes, inviting visitors to wander through an intervention shaped by light, memory and the shifting presence of the city below.

The City Project commissions a Greek artist each year to create a site specific work for a public location, activating urban and historical spaces through contemporary art. Since its launch in 2014, the programme has encouraged encounters between art and everyday life, opening the city to new forms of experience. This year’s installation is realised in collaboration with Green Athens, the City of Athens entity responsible for the natural environment of the National Garden and the Western Acropolis Hills.

Visitors access the installation on foot through Philopappos Hill. Flat shoes are recommended.
