The Cured Delights of Paros
If you know Paros, you know gouna (literally meaning “fur”), but in Parian it refers to the delicious sun-dried fish delicacy. If you don’t know Paros — or gouna — you can start discovering the island’s cultural identity and its cured delights right in the heart of Athens with The Cured Delights of Paros, a two-day celebration of taste, tradition and community.
Discover the island’s ancient art of curing fish through hands-on workshops, live demonstrations and talks led by culinary experts, including renowned journalist and gastronomy author Niki Mitarea.
On Saturday, dive into the flavours and stories behind Parian cuisine, while Sunday transforms into an open feast of island delicacies, local wines and traditional music by Parian artists. Alongside the festivities, enjoy art by Dimitris Sifnaios, recipe postcards and a nostalgic photo exhibition, “Paros of the 1970s.”
