This is Athens City Festival returns this May — bigger, bolder, and bursting into more neighbourhoods than ever before. From 1 May to 1 June, over 200 free events will take over parks, squares, rooftops and hidden corners across the capital, inviting locals and visitors alike to explore a different side of the city. This May, This is Athens City Festival sets the table across the city with experiences that blend music, flavour and good company. From curated wine pairings at landmark museums to open-air cocktail sessions in blooming gardens, and downtown food markets that double as block parties — here’s where to taste the city at its best.

09/05: Food & Wine Sessions, National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST): Top Greek wines meet bold culinary creativity in a one-night-only pairing experience, hosted inside one of the city’s most striking modern spaces.

09-11/05: Protogenous Spring City, Protogenous Street: One of Athens’ most eclectic streets becomes an open-air hub of street food, drinks, vinyl, crafts and concerts — where creatives and night owls gather for bites, beats and browsing.

09–11/05: World of Beer Festival, Technopolis: Athens goes heady with hops as the World of Beer Festival returns to Technopolis, featuring over 1,050 labels from Greek microbreweries to global favourites. Think tastings, beer-based cocktails, street food, live gigs, stand-up comedy, and a buzzing courtyard crowd. Ticket includes a tote bag of goodies.

11, 24 & 25/05: Athens Cocktails, Japanese Garden, Rizari Park, Thissio Square: Picture a Japanese garden, music in the air, and a perfectly mixed drink in hand. That’s Athens Cocktails — a series of lively afternoons with DJs, good vibes, and refreshing sips across the city’s prettiest corners.
