Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui: Ihsane
There are dance works you admire, and then there are works that ask something of you. Ihsane, the new creation by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, arrives at Megaron for two performances with Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève and Eastman, bringing together movement, live music, memory, and questions of identity, grief, and reconciliation. Presented in the Alexandra Trianti Hall as part of Megaron’s Spring Festival and Dance at Megaron programme, it is a major Athens stop for one of the most influential choreographic voices working today.
Cherkaoui builds the piece around deeply personal and wider human themes, drawing on his Moroccan roots and the language of loss, while the production’s live score and multinational cast give it a strong collective pulse. It also carries a philanthropic dimension, as the event supports Lifeline Hellas and its work providing medical equipment to Greece’s public children’s hospitals.
