It has been four years since Peter Murphy last visited Athens. The Bauhaus frontman put on a powerful performance but still, the crowd was left wanting more. The news of his heart attack in 2019 made gothic rock fans across the world hold their breath. Thankfully the Godfather of Goth not only fully recovered but announced the reunion of Bauhaus with the original members: Daniel Ash, Kevin Haskins and David J. The British band have just been announced by Release Festival for a show in Athens, one of the very few stops they'll be making as part of their 2022 world tour. What is undead may never die, they say. More acts will be announced for the day.
Update: Booking the original members of Bauhaus for a performance is a feat on its own. Holding on to that promise for two years due to a world pandemic is nothing short of a wonder. Adding the Jesus and Mary Chain and dEUS to complete the day's line-up is reason enough to believe in post-COVID happiness. Just think that on the same day, you get Peter Murphy, James Reid and Tom Barman on the same stage. You're welcome, for the roses.
