Release Athens Festival x SNF Nostos 2026: David Byrne & Nation of Language

This June, two of Athens’ most beloved festivals, Release Athens Festival and SNF Nostos, join forces for a landmark summer collaboration celebrating 10 years of Release Athens and the 30th anniversary of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

SNF Nostos 2026 will take place from 21 to 28 June with a week-long celebration featuring talks, performances, installations and more. The music programme is just one part of this vibrant, inclusive, and open-to-all event but it’s turning heads for all the right reasons.

For this special edition, SNF Nostos joins forces with Release Athens Festival for a highlight of the summer: David Byrne live in Athens.

Known as the frontman of Talking Heads and for his fearless solo career, Byrne brings his acclaimed Who Is the Sky tour to the SNFCC’s Great Lawn for a one-night-only performance under the stars. Expect a mix of Talking Heads classics and material from his 2025 solo album, infectious rhythms, surreal visuals and theatrical brilliance.

Supporting Byrne on this unique evening will be Nation of Language, the acclaimed trio from Brooklyn who will be making their debut appearance in Greece. The band has earned international recognition for their emotionally charged songwriting and a sound that bridges synthpop, minimal wave and post-punk.

With Release Athens’s trademark open-air setting and relaxed vibe paired with SNF Nostos’s community-driven spirit, this just might be a mark- your- calendar event with more acts to be announced for the night.
