Release Athens Festival 2027: The Neighbourhood
As the first crisp autumn air hits Athens, it’s officially time to pull out your favorite layers because Release Athens has delivered the perfect excuse for some real “Sweater Weather.” Kicking off its 2027 announcements, the festival welcomes alternative pop titans The Neighbourhood to Greece for their long-awaited live debut on Friday, June 25th.
It’s been over a decade since “Sweater Weather” exploded into a global phenomenon, now ranking as one of the most-streamed tracks in Spotify history. Driven by charismatic frontman Jesse Rutherford and a signature black-and-white aesthetic, the Californian band built a devout worldwide following through melancholic hits like “Daddy Issues,” “Softcore,” and “Reflections.” Fresh off a massive worldwide arena tour following their 2025 reunion album (((((ultraSOUND))))), they arrive in Greece at the peak of their live power.
This landmark concert also signals a major milestone for the festival itself. After 10 defining years at Water Plaza, Release Athens is turning the page and moving to a brand-new home at the Markopoulo Complex. The spacious new venue features two stages—including a massive 4,000 sq m covered tent to beat the summer heat—alongside extensive parking and dedicated shuttle buses from Koropi Metro station, making the venue easier to reach.
