Nicola Piovani: Great Music - Great Movies
Oscar-winning composer Nicola Piovani returns to Athens for an open-air evening of sweeping scores and cinematic nostalgia. Taking the stage at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Piovani conducts the Athens State Orchestra through orchestral suites drawn from his enduring collaborations with Federico Fellini, Roberto Benigni and the Taviani brothers.
From the haunting tenderness of La Vita è Bella to the lyrical melancholy of La Notte di San Lorenzo, this concert brings together some of the most recognisable and evocative soundscapes of European cinema. Expect familiar motifs and fresh arrangements, performed beneath the Athenian sky in one of the city's most atmospheric settings.
Presented by The Athens Concert Hall (Megaron) in collaboration with the Athens Epidaurus Festival, this musical tribute bridges film and stage, memory and melody.
A timeless way to close a summer night in Athens—or start one, with a slow stroll up Dionysiou Areopagitou.
