New Year’s Eve 2025 at Syntagma Square

This holiday season, the City of Athens is weaving the threads of Christmas cheer together with all of us, as a citywide celebration unfolds across the city. Iconic squares and landmarks glow with energy-saving lights, while neighbourhood corners join the festive buzz. Expect a full line-up of free events for every age and taste, from Christmas-themed concerts to children's workshops and much more.

On New Year’s Eve, it’s Syntagma Square, the city’s most iconic square, that comes alive with music, rhythm, and unity, as crowds gather beneath the winter sky to count down to 2026.

From 10pm, the City of Athens Philharmonic Orchestra sets the tone, before singer Kostis Maraveyas fills the square with his joyful Mediterranean sound, and Rena Morfi takes over with her warm voice and irresistible stage presence. The evening is hosted by Nikos Moutsinas and Tonia Sotiropoulou, who will guide you through the night and into the first moments of the new year.

As midnight draws near, look up as the sky transforms with an impressive drone show. When the clock strikes twelve, silent, eco-friendly fireworks light up the city in glowing colours and elegant shapes, creating a magical welcome to 2026.
