My Museum: The Museum as the Living Room of Society
Museums are no longer simply looked upon as depositories of times past. Fortunately, museum curators have acknowledged the need for extroversion and community engagement, helping their institutes transition from once-hushed stewards of heritage into vibrant social, civic, and participatory venues. The future of this landscape is up for discussion at the ninth edition of the annual Museum Conference, organised by the Benaki Museum, the U.S. Embassy in Greece, and the British Council. Conference speakers will explore how museums and cultural organizations can become safe spaces for knowledge exchange, multicultural dialogue, self-discovery, and entertainment by offering new and expanded experiences to the public. There will be simultaneous interpretation into Greek and English. Certificates of attendance will be provided upon request.
