Les Arts Florissants
Paul Agnew, the renowned Scottish tenor and conductor, directs one of the most significant religious works of Johann Sebastian Bach, the Christmas Oratorio, for the first time. This iconic piece adds a unique dramatic element to the narrative of the Divine Birth, making it an emblematic work for both the Christian holiday and global music.
Agnew, a leading figure in early music, will guide the esteemed Les Arts Florissants choir and orchestra, a prominent ensemble founded by the legendary baroque "mystic" William Christie in 1979, through this extraordinary performance. They will be joined by a distinguished group of baroque singers, each with a longstanding and fruitful career in the genre.
