"Juvenilia" at the Benaki Museum
The Benaki Museum, long celebrated as a keeper of Greece’s cultural treasures, is inviting you to step into the early worlds of eleven iconic Greek artists in its new exhibition, Juvenilia. This captivating show takes you on a journey back to the beginnings of celebrated figures like Chrysa Romanos, Spyros Vassiliou, Yannis Tsarouchis, offering a glimpse into their early works and the ideas that would go on to define their legendary careers.
Curated through a unique collaboration of three institutions, Juvenilia reveals hidden gems from each artist's formative years. These works give a fresh perspective on their artistic development. Each artist’s early creations are thoughtfully explored by different art historians, who offer their own insights into how these youthful experiments blossomed into some of Greece's most important modern art.
