If there was a company that could help you reach out to the dead, wouldn't you want to try? Efthymis Filippou, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter for his collaborations with Yorgos Lanthimos, is the one asking the question in Eau de Cologne, an intriguing theatrical play directed by Argyro Hioti and her Vasistas group. Six women operate an impression machine in a special transcendental space where people can go and send letters to loved ones who have passed. The machine turns words into cologne that reaches the next world. A man arrives with a letter to his long-lost mother and the women start the process. A metaphysical experience follows, both on stage and off—we hear that the content of the letter is especially heartbreaking. English sur-titles are available every Thursday.
