CineFIX 2025
What’s better than a warm Athenian night under the stars? Watching thought-provoking films with a panoramic view of the Acropolis, of course. EMST’s rooftop terrace transforms once again into an open-air cinema as CineFIX returns for its second year, showcasing films by artists exploring contemporary issues.
Kicking off the season on 25 May is an evening with acclaimed Palestinian filmmaker Mahdi Fleifel, who presents a hand-picked selection of his works—including A World Not Ours and I Signed the Petition—followed by a Q&A session. It’s a rare opportunity to hear from one of contemporary cinema’s most compelling voices.
On 1 June, travel to the vibrant heart of Kinshasa with Rumba Rules, New Genealogies and dive into African music, culture, and identity. The screening will be followed by a discussion with directors Sammy Baloji, whose exhibition is currently on view at the museum, and David N. Bernatchez.
Then, on 5 June, CineFIX teams up with Athens Pride for the moving documentary AKOE/AMFI: The Story of a Revolution. In 1977, a group of friends launched A.K.O.E.—the Greek Homosexual Liberation Movement—and its magazine Amfi, creating a vital refuge for Greece’s LGBTQ+ community through to 1990. This emotional and powerful film charts a revolution for the right to exist, to love, and to find happiness.
