Christmas for Kids 2024

This festive season, Athens transforms into a sparkling wonderland with Christmas in Athens: A Fairytale Comes to Life, a city-wide celebration running from November 28 to January 10. The city’s squares and landmarks are illuminated (with energy-efficient lighting, ofcourse) and every Athenian neighbourhood gets in on the yuletide action with free events for all tastes and ages, including Christmas-themed concerts, open-air film screenings, kids activities and more.

Step into a winter dreamland overflowing with holiday magic and joy, where the spirit of Christmas comes alive for children and adults alike. Get ready for festive fun, contagious laughter, and unforgettable moments that will warm your hearts all season long.

15/12; 2 – 6 pm; Christmas Children's Party; Syntagma Square: Athens 9.84, the city’s radio station, celebrates with the children of the Red Cross at an official Christmas party featuring a magician, jugglers, and gifts for the kids.

20/12–10/01; Tue–Fri: 11 am - 7 pm, Sat & Sun: 10 am - 3 pm; "PAIS PAIXNIDI" Toy Stories Art Exhibition; Melina Municipal Cultural Centre: Explore the joyful connection between humans and play, celebrating its importance for both children and adults.

21/12; 11.30 am – 12.45 pm; Christmas Paintings with VR Masks; Athens Municipal Art Gallery: Kids aged 9–12 can use VR headsets and digital brushes to create festive 3D masterpieces after exploring the Art Gallery. 21/12; 1.30 – 2.30 pm; Christmas Magic Bubble Show; Athens Book Space (Outdoor Area): A spectacular bubble show by "La Petite Marguerite" for kids of all ages.

21/12; 4 – 5.15 pm; Jazz Around the Kids; Athens Book Space (Outdoor Area): Children aged 3–10 explore jazz rhythms with percussion instruments, musical stories, and body music.

22/12; 11.30 am – 1.30 pm; Little Gardeners with Brushes Christmas Edition; Athens Book Space (Outdoor Area): Kids aged 3+ paint ceramic pots inspired by Freedom Park and Christmas, then plant poinsettias in their creations.

26/12; 11 am; ZAMOMINIA Band Concert; Syntagma Square: An interactive musical performance for kids aged 3–12, featuring songs about nature, animals, and fantastical creatures, blending jazz, reggae, and hip-hop.

28/12; 12 –1 pm; Face Painting; Athens Book Space (Outdoor Area): Kids of all ages can transform into fairies, elves, or colourful candy treats.

28/12; 1–2pm; Bubble Parade "AERONAUTS"; Athens Book Space (Outdoor Area): The Aeronauts fill the air with bubbles, play, and endless moments of joy and carefree fun.

29/12; 6 pm; Rosarte of Musicals Concert; Olympia Municipal Music Theatre "Maria Callas": The Rosarte choir presents beloved Disney and Broadway hits, including Anastasia, Pocahontas, West Side Story, Matilda, and Frozen.

30/12; 11.3 0am; Rosarte of Musicals Concert; Olympia Municipal Music Theatre "Maria Callas": The Rosarte choir returns with Disney and Broadway classics, from Pocahontas to Frozen.
