Christmas for Kids 2025

This holiday season, the City of Athens is weaving the threads of Christmas cheer together with all of us, as a citywide celebration unfolds across the city. Iconic squares and landmarks glow with energy-saving lights, while neighbourhood corners join the festive buzz. Expect a full line-up of free events for every age and taste, from Christmas-themed concerts to children's workshops and much more.

For families, Athens becomes a true wonderland, with vibrant activities at every turn. From stencil art at Kotzia Square and festive crafts in Kypseli, Evelpidon, and Nordau, to magical performances in Thymarakia, inflatable parks, Christmas cinema, and colourful art adventures at the Maria Callas Museum and Athens Book Space, every neighbourhood offers joyful experiences. Whether painting ornaments, designing tote bags, bouncing on inflatables, or building a Christmas village, the kid in all of us can explore the season through dance, play, imagination, and holiday sparkle.

28-30/12 & 02/01, 12 pm - 2 pm: Stencil Art in the City: Create Your Own Christmas Postcards : Christmas Market “Kids Corner” – Kotzia Square, The Maria Callas Museum and the Industrial Gas Museum invite children and grown-ups to a colourful Christmas experience at Kotzia Square! Using stencil techniques, kids aged 3+ (and their adults) create dazzling Christmas postcards inspired by the glamour of Maria Callas and the magic of industrial architecture. Continuous flow activity; first-come, first-served.

13/12, 11 am - 12 pm & 12 pm - 1 pm: Dressing Our Christmas Tree :  A festive art workshop for children aged 6–12, painting plaster Christmas miniatures to take home and decorate their tree. Max 20 children per hour. Booking: 210 8821428

19/12, Christmas Movie Night at Kypseli Municipal Market : Enjoy an open-air cinema evening with two family favourites!  5.30 pm : “The Grinch” (dubbed in Greek, 86 minutes), 7.30 pm : Home Alone (with subtitles)

20/12, 10.30 am, Christmas Takes Shape… on Fabric : City of Athens Arts Centre, Kids aged 6+ design festive artwork on fabric tote bags using acrylics and stencils—a creative, colourful Christmas workshop.  Booking: 210 7232604

21/12, 12 pm, Stitch’s Christmas : Thymarakia Square, Santa and his elves are preparing gifts—until the mischievous Stitch turns everything upside down! A lively festive show with giant cartoon characters, jugglers, stilt-walkers, a Snow Queen, bubble shows and more.

 21/12, 12 pm - 4 pm, The Light of Christmas : Christmas Market “Kids Corner” – Kotzia Square, Create your own glowing Christmas lantern, decorated with glitter, sparkles and imagination. For children aged 3–12 and their adults. 40-minute slots, first-come, first-served. Led by theatre-educator Eugenia Vissariou.

21/12, 5 pm - 6 pm, Face Painting with “Moutzoures” : Athens Book Space, Kids transform into Rudolph, fairies or Christmas elves with colourful festive face painting.

21/12, 5 pm - 6 pm, Christmas Magic Bubble Show : Athens Book Space – Outdoor Space, La Petite Marguerite invites children of all ages to a dreamy, interactive bubble show full of colour and wonder.

23/12, 12 pm - 5 pm, Christmas Inflatable Park : Mesolongiou Square, Bounce into Christmas fun with slides, trampolines, pedal go-karts, face painting and letters to Santa.

24/12, 11 am - 12 pm, A Scribble Is Just the Beginning : Digital Museum of Plato’s Academy, A creative drawing adventure for ages 6–12, using magical scribbles, a lucky dice and imagination to craft their own Christmas story. Max 15 participants. Booking: 210 5142138

27/12, 12 pm - 6 pm, Kids Radio – Christmas Family Day : Kotzia Square, The This is Athens – City Festival, with Frontstage Entertainment, invites the whole family to a day of festive fun at Kotzia Square!
Enjoy face painting, a dazzling bubble show, and craft your own lucky charm. Make snow, listen to a heart-warming Christmas story, meet Santa Claus, and dance to a DJ set by HiT 88.9. The day ends with a joyful live performance by the Kids Radio Banda, filling the square with music, laughter, and holiday cheer.
