Φ hill Sessions at Dora Stratou Theatre
Philopappou Hill, also known as the Hill of the Muses, is one of Athens’ most beloved green retreats. Rising just southwest of the Acropolis, it offers panoramic views over the city and the Athenian coastline, blending natural beauty with historical significance. The hill is dotted with ancient monuments, including the impressive Philopappou Monument, and winding paths shaded by pine and cypress trees. This August, it becomes the perfect setting for the enchanting Φ hill Sessions festival.
Φ hill Sessions takes its name from the hill. The Greek words for Light, Friendship, Nature, and Imagination all begin with the letter Φ. Φ also symbolizes the Golden Ratio — the perfect harmony between art and mathematics — inspiring every detail of the festival’s design and spirit.
Ten unforgettable evenings of music feature acclaimed Greek and international artists performing in a series of concerts infused with the energy, natural beauty, and mystical aura of the ancient landscape and its rich cultural heritage.
Highlights include Winter Watercolours, Stavros Lantsias Quartet, Tigran Hamasyan, Fantastic Negrito, Xylouris White, Dhafer Youssef, and more.
The Dora Stratou Theatre, built in 1963 opposite the Acropolis, was designed specifically for the iconic Dora Stratou dance troupe and features a permanent set by artist Spyros Vassiliou.
