Miltos Skouras: In Between the Visible. Painting 1983–2026
Hosted at the City of Athens Gallery, this retrospective by Greek artist Miltos Skouras invites you to look past the surface of everyday images. Set in Metaxourgeio, a neighbourhood known for its blend of industrial heritage and lively local character, the exhibition takes you through four decades of visual culture.
Having shaped his artistic lens in Milan, Paris, and New York, Skouras brings a cosmopolitan sensibility to his work. He moves easily between graphic design, pop culture, fashion, and fine art to capture cinematic moments frozen in time. Up close, his photorealistic imagery opens up into rich canvas textures and colour, where memory, reality, and dreamscapes merge. From detailed street scenes to understated portraits of everyday people, the show creates a space where what is left unsaid carries as much weight as what you see.
It’s a thoughtful, engaging pause from the rush of the city and an easy addition to an afternoon exploring Metaxourgeio, right before heading out for a drink at one of the area's relaxed spots.
