Claire Huangci Performs Chopin at the Megaron
Rising star Claire Huangci makes her Athens debut with a programme that places Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 at its centre, performed alongside the Athens State Orchestra at the Megaron. Known for her refined touch, clarity, and lyrical intensity, the American pianist of Chinese origin has enjoyed a rapid international ascent since winning first prize at the Geza Anda Competition in Zurich, quickly establishing herself as one of the most compelling soloists of her generation.
The evening brings together Romantic expressiveness and orchestral colour, opening with Stravinsky’s early Symphony in E flat major and closing with Ravel’s vibrant Suite No. 2 from Daphnis and Chloé. Conducting is Vakhtang Kakhidze, who appears with the Athens State Orchestra for the first time, adding an additional sense of occasion to a programme that moves from elegance and lyricism to rhythmic brilliance. A free introductory talk for ticket holders takes place shortly before the concert.
