Narratologies Showcases XR Climate Games at ART/TECH Days by COSMOTE TELEKOM
This past weekend, Narratologies proudly participated in ART/TECH Days by COSMOTE TELEKOM, a three-day event dedicated to the creative coexistence of art and technology, hosted at Technopolis City of Athens. In collaboration with the IT Innovation Center of COSMOTE TELEKOM, we presented our brand-new Narratologies XR Climate Game, offering visitors an immersive and playful way to explore sustainability and environmental awareness through extended reality.
The event brought together artists, technologists, educators, families, and convection enthusiasts, creating a vibrant space where creativity, digital innovation, and social impact met in meaningful ways.
Introducing the Embracing Gaia XR Climate Game
At the heart of our participation was the interactive Embracing Gaia XR Climate Game, an XR hybrid sustainability experience designed to turn climate education into collaborative play.
Participants were invited to engage with environmental challenges through a seamless blend of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) interactions, multisensory physical objects integrated into the gameplay, and story-driven challenges inspired by ecological balance and the natural elements. The experience encouraged cooperative tasks that promoted teamwork and creative problem-solving, transforming sustainability concepts into an active, shared journey rather than a passive learning process. Through this hybrid format, visitors moved seamlessly between the physical and digital worlds, experiencing sustainability not as abstract data, but as a tangible and emotional journey.
Strong Audience Engagement Across All Ages
Throughout January 24–25, the Narratologies booth welcomed children, adults, educators, artists, creators, and technology enthusiasts, all eager to explore how XR can support climate education and creative learning.
Many participants completed full game cycles, collaborating in teams, discussing environmental topics, and reflecting on how technology can support behavioral change. Families described the experience as both educational and entertaining, while educators expressed interest in using similar XR formats in learning environments.
The steady flow of visitors and the depth of interaction demonstrated the growing demand for immersive, inclusive, and participatory climate-focused experiences in public cultural events.
XR, Art, and Sustainability in One Hybrid Experience
What made the experience stand out was the way XR technologies, physical interaction, and narrative storytelling worked together to communicate complex environmental concepts in an accessible and engaging way.
Rather than relying solely on screens, the experience invited visitors to move through space, interact physically with objects, and emotionally connect with the narrative while collaborating with others. This multisensory and social approach supported deeper engagement with environmental topics and demonstrated how hybrid storytelling can strengthen both learning outcomes and personal connection to sustainability.
This approach aligns with Narratologies’ vision of hybrid learning environments, where technology enhances, rather than replaces, physical experience and human connection.’
Narratologies Brings Embracing Gaia XR Climate Games to ART/TECH Days by COSMOTE TELEKOM
Originally developed and piloted at the National Garden of Athens in close collaboration with Green Athens, Embracing Gaia was designed to activate urban green spaces through hybrid storytelling, ecological play, and participatory learning. Building on this successful public-space deployment, the experience was later presented within the framework of ART/TECH Days by COSMOTE TELEKOM, demonstrating how XR-based cultural projects can travel across different contexts, from open-air gardens to innovation-driven festivals, while maintaining their educational and environmental focus. As part of the Horizon research initiative CAPHE (Communities and Artistic Participation in Hybrid Environments) developed by Narratologies, Jagiellonian University, and TMMSAC, the project continues to explore how digital technologies, art, and environmental narratives can transform public spaces into open-air hybrid classrooms.
A Valuable Collaboration with COSMOTE TELEKOM
Our participation in ART/TECH Days was made possible through the generous support of COSMOTE TELEKOM and the IT Innovation Center, who continue to strengthen the visibility of innovative Greek companies and support the outward orientation of the national innovation ecosystem.
By providing a platform where startups and creative teams can present their solutions to the wider public, COSMOTE TELEKOM actively contributes to the development of responsible, socially relevant technological innovation.
We are grateful for the opportunity to showcase our work within such a forward-thinking environment and to connect with diverse audiences through this collaboration.
Advancing XR for Climate Education and Public Engagement
Events like ART/TECH Days confirm the important role that XR and hybrid games can play in shaping new forms of environmental education and cultural participation.
Through the Narratologies XR Climate Games, we explore how public venues can host meaningful and engaging learning experiences, how digital tools can actively support environmental literacy, and how storytelling can strengthen emotional connections to sustainability. Most importantly, these hybrid formats empower participants to become active agents within the experience, rather than passive spectators, encouraging reflection, dialogue, and long-term engagement with environmental issues.
The positive response from the audience reinforces our commitment to developing playful, research-driven, and socially impactful XR experiences.
Looking Ahead
Kicking off 2026 at ART/TECH Days marks an exciting start to a year full of new projects, collaborations, and public XR experiences for Narratologies. Building on the success of this event, we continue to expand our climate-focused and cultural XR portfolio across festivals, educational programs, and public spaces.
