Athens Headlines

“Athens. The city is the museum,” a campaign to promote Athens as an all-year round tourism destination, has received a total of 7 Ermis Awards given by the Hellenic Association of Advertising-Communication Agencies, including 4 gold, 1 silver and two bronze. The initiative was launched in 2022 by the City of Athens, the Tourism Ministry and Google. See more

Athens received a major vote of confidence from the Kenes Group when the world’s largest Professional Congress Organiser chose the Greek capital to host its annual executive meeting last January. Athens Mayor Haris Doukas met with the President of Kenes Group Ori Lahav to discuss promoting Athens as a top destination for business meetings. See more

As part of his strategy to further promote sustainable development practices in the Greek capital, Athens Mayor Haris Doukas is planning to establish an office focused on energy poverty. See more

What We Are Up to

This is Athens-CVB represented the Greek Meetings Alliance at the meeting of the Strategic Alliance of the National Convention Bureaux of Europe that took place in Barcelona, Spain in January. See more

We were a Strategic Partner of the 13th Annual Meeting of HAPCO & DES, titled “The Future is Now”, which took place last week in Thessaloniki, Greece with This is Athens-CVB Public Relations Manager Tina Toribaba as the presenter and moderator of the “GMA TALKS” session. See more

Our team traveled to Mumbai, India for OTM, one of Asia’s leading travel trade shows as part of the continuous efforts to build strong business relations between Ahtens and the dynamic market in India. See more

The Athens Development and Destination Management Agency supported the organization of "Greek Tourism, a National Affair!" conference which took place in the Greek capital in December, with the participation of national officials, tourism organizations, academics and senior executives of tourism enterprises. MICE Athens

The 3rd International Conference on Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering (MEEE) 2024 will be held in Athens between 22-24 February. See more

The Former Public Tobacco Factory is better known these days as a cultural venue. Built in 1930, the impressive industrial spaces with large glass ceilings was listed as an historic monument in 1989. In 2021, over 6,500 square-metres of the industrial landmark were transformed into a major art space for exhibitions organized by NEON. Owned by the Hellenic Parliament, it also houses the Parliament Library and Printing House and serves as a fine example of interwar architecture. Don't miss the chance to get inside and admire the soaring atrium the next time the building opens to the public. The pastel-hued façade is also eye-catching.
