Costa Lazaridi’s vision.
Costa Lazaridi’s vision for Drama as a leading wine region began in the 1970s. In 1979, he planted the area’s first linear vineyard in Xiropotamos and later established its first state-of-the-art winery. What began with 10 hectares has grown into 300 hectares of the largest privately owned vineyards in Greece, producing outstanding wines from both Greek and international varieties. Costa Lazaridi was the first to pioneer the blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Assyrtiko, making Amethystos White the original signature blend of Drama.

The vineyards in Drama—Adriani, Kali Vrysi, Katafyto, and Platania—each contribute to the region’s distinctive terroir. In Attica, vines planted at the shores of Lake Marathon in 2000 have been organically farmed since 2005. Beyond wine, Estates Costa Lazaridi crafts premium spirits, balsamic vinegars, and the renowned Idoniko series.
Costa Lazaridi’s deep passion for wine led to the creation of the Wine Museum at Oenotria Land in Kapandriti in 2011, offering Greece’s most comprehensive showcase of winemaking history.
"Great wines are born in the vineyards"—a belief that has guided the estate from the beginning. Every bottle reflects the uniqueness of its vintage and terroir, proving that nature itself is the true creator of great wines. With an unwavering commitment to sustainability, the estate continues to honor the land while embracing innovative viticulture. At the same time, creativity and exploration remain at the heart of its philosophy, inspiring new expressions and pushing the boundaries of winemaking.
This vision is actively carried forward by the next generation. Gerasimos and George Lazaridi, twin sons of Costa and Julia were raised among the vines. With deep expertise and a fresh perspective, they are the driving force behind the estate’s continued growth, ensuring its legacy thrives for generations to come.
