Connecting with the Global Market in Athens: A Review of AITE 2025
From 8 to 10 December 2025, the This is Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau participated in the Athens International Tourism & Culture Expo (AITE), held at the historic Zappeion Megaron, once a strategic meeting point for industry professionals, focusing on the growth of inbound tourism.
A Platform for International Collaboration
The AITE is instrumental in connecting Greek suppliers with the global market through its Hosted Buyers programme, which this year attracted professionals from over 40 countries. The event covers key industry verticals including MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), business travel, luxury tourism, and leisure, providing a targeted environment for fostering cross-border collaborations.
Our Activity and Engagement
Operating from Booth 195, the This is Athens CVB team focused on networking with international buyers to promote the city’s evolving infrastructure and potential as a premier, year-round destination.
Our participation was marked by significant commercial activity. During the three-day event, our team successfully conducted more than 50 B2B appointments, both pre-scheduled and walk-in. These meetings allowed us to share expertise on the Athenian market and discuss specific opportunities for future cooperation with key stakeholders.
Thought Leadership
Beyond our exhibition presence, Mr Ioannis Georgizas, CEO of Develop Athens S.A., actively contributed to the event’s conference programme, participating as a speaker and addressing the audience on the strategic development of the destination and the importance of synergies in sustaining tourism growth.
Our presence at the Athens International Tourism & Culture Expo reinforces our commitment to supporting the local meetings industry and ensuring Athens remains a top-of-mind choice for international event planners.
