BCNM 2025 – A Historic Gathering, Successfully Delivered by AFEA Congress
The 17th Panhellenic & 12th Balkan Congress of Nuclear Medicine (BCNM 2025) took place from May 8–11 at the Athens War Museum, and it will be remembered as one of the most impactful editions in the event's history.
The Athens War Museum, situated in the heart of the city, provided a venue that seamlessly blended historical significance with modern amenities, offering attendees an enriching experience both academically and culturally.
Bringing together over 500 participants, the congress featured a rich and diverse scientific program, including 20 scientific sessions, 9 “Meet the Expert” discussions, 12 oral presentations, 4 walking poster sessions, 6 student-led sessions, and 10 satellite lectures. The dynamic and comprehensive agenda reflected the congress's overarching theme: #JoiningForces — a call to unity and progress within the nuclear medicine community.
The event was led by Dr. John Koutsikos, President of the Organizing Committee and the Hellenic Society for Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging, alongside Professor Ioannis Iakovou, President of the Scientific Committee. Under their guidance, BCNM 2025 became a vibrant forum for international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Highlights included the Opening Ceremony, where Professor George P. Chrousos delivered a powerful keynote on “Stress, Health and Disease,” setting the tone for a congress focused on innovation and interdisciplinary dialogue. Sessions throughout the event delved into key areas such as PET/CT, theragnostics, nuclear cardiology, and molecular imaging, sparking critical conversations and highlighting new frontiers in the field.
Beyond its academic rigor, BCNM 2025 celebrated creativity and excellence — from an inspiring art exhibition to the recognition of outstanding abstracts. The congress concluded with a memorable gala evening, bringing participants together in a spirit of connection and shared achievement.
Hosting BCNM 2025 in Athens underscores the city's growing reputation as a premier destination for international medical and scientific congresses. AFEA Congress was honored to manage the full design, planning, and execution of this complex and high-impact event. We remain committed to delivering excellence through strategic collaboration and meticulous coordination — and BCNM 2025 stands as a proud example of that commitment in action.
