Landless | Christos Papadopoulos & Georgios Kotsifakis
Christos Papadopoulos has made a name for himself across Europe by doing the exact opposite of what most choreographers do: he strips away the noise. In Landless, created for Onassis Dance Days with his long-time creative collaborator Georgios Kotsifakis, he builds an entire show around the basics, weight, balance, breath, and the friction of skin on wood.
Rather than throwing flashy climaxes at the audience, the pair builds tension through steady, synchronised movements and minute shifts in balance. It looks into how we feel rooted and what keeps us steady when everything around us feels unsettled. It demands that you slow down, dial in, and pay attention, proving that a performance does not need massive theatrics to hold a room completely silent.
