Release Athens Festival 2026 closes with a powerful night of metal at Water Plaza, led by Swedish heavyweights Sabaton and joined by Savatage and Epica. Known for transforming historic battles and epic narratives into high energy anthems, Sabaton return to Athens with a show built on scale, storytelling, and sheer force, following the release of their latest album Legends.
The line up brings together three defining voices of the genre. Savatage, pioneers of American progressive metal, make a long awaited return to Athens, revisiting a catalogue that shaped metal opera and narrative driven songwriting. Epica complete the night with their symphonic metal sound, blending orchestral depth and heavy riffs, fronted by the unmistakable vocals of Simone Simons. Together, the three acts promise an intense summer evening that spans power metal, progressive metal, and symphonic grandeur.
