AEF2026: Hip Hop Battle & All Styles Battle

This summer, Athens Epidaurus Festival's main city venue, the former industrial complex in Pireos 260, celebrates 20 years as one of the city’s most vital cultural meeting points. Under the artistic direction of Michail Marmarinos, this year’s landmark programme unfolds across two months of theatre, dance, music, performance, and multidisciplinary works, bringing together more than 50 events by acclaimed international artists alongside some of the most exciting voices from Greece’s contemporary scene. Pireos 260 will live through the Athenian summer as a dynamic space where emerging creators, established names, and curious audiences come together to explore what contemporary performance can be today. New collaborations, technology-driven works, and immersive experiences sit alongside bold theatrical productions, live music, and cutting-edge choreography.

Amongst these high-energy contemporary showcases is the 6th Athens Festival Urban Dance Contest, a cornerstone event for the underground street dance scene that returns more dynamic than ever. Curated by acclaimed dancer and choreographer Elias Hadjigeorgiou alongside his long-time collaborator Periklis Petrakis, this anniversary edition unfolds across two consecutive nights of intense, spectacular dance battles.

Titled "Layers of Streets," the contest serves as a powerful testament to the authenticity of neighbourhood-born art forms, showcasing how they engage in a vivid, raw dialogue with modern performance art. Expect an electrified atmosphere in the open-air Platea as top local and international street dancers go head-to-head in explosive Hip Hop and All Style battles, drawing a passionate crowd of artists, performers, and fans who keep the energy buzzing long into the night.
