TiACF26: A Victim of Society & Mechanimal
This May, TiACF2026 returns to prove that the best bits of the city aren't always on the mainstream maps. We’re moving beyond the landmarks and diving headfirst into the heartbeat of our neighbourhoods. From 1 May to 31 May, the city transforms into a living, breathing stage where you can anticipate lived experiences that often blur the lines between art and daily life. We’re taking over the spots you walk past every day: the quiet neighbourhood squares, the courtyards in "off-grid" districts, and the sun-drenched rooftops and backstreets only locals know how to find. With over 300 free events, this isn't just a festival happening in Athens; it’s a festival made by the city, for the city. It’s your festival. Check out our curated selection or go to the official TiACF26 website to see what's on throughout May.
There is a particular kind of energy that emerges when one of the city’s narrow pedestrian streets is handed over to some of its loudest alternative voices. Ipitou Street, usually known for its bars and lively conversations, becomes the setting for an intense double bill by two underground heavyweights. A Victim of Society, the duo of Vangelis Makris and Fotis Ntouskas, bring their signature lo-fi sound to the pavement, filling the air with fuzzy guitars and hypnotic reverb.
The mood deepens as Mechanimal, the audiovisual project led by Giannis Papaioannou, takes over. Their sound is dark, forceful and immersive, driven by drone rock, industrial rhythms and the restless pulse of the nocturnal city. This is a night for anyone drawn to intensity in the Athenian soundscape, where music and urban setting become inseparable. It is not often that these two acts appear in such an intimate open-air context, turning an ordinary walk through the centre into something far more charged.
