ERT National Symphony Orchestra: Beethoven’s Eroica

The National Broadcasting Corporation’s ERT National Symphony Orchestra takes the stage for a program that spans the drama of the Russian opera house to the revolutionary spirit of the early 19th century. Under the baton of Michalis Economou, the evening opens with Glinka’s energetic overture to Ruslan and Lyudmila before shifting to the delicate, poetic lines of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by the acclaimed French pianist Elisabeth Sombart.

The centerpiece, however, is Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, the "Eroica." It is a work that changed the course of music history, and hearing it in the intimate, resonant acoustics of the Olympia is a treat for any classical enthusiast.
