Female Voices: Folk Traditions
You’ll find that the female voice in Greek folk music is far more than just a melody; it is a living archive of shared memories and stories passed down through the centuries. In this evocative concert, the Greek Music Workshop of Athens brings together three of the country's most respected contemporary voices—Areti Ketime, Sofia Papazoglou, and Katerina Papadopoulou. Together, they pay tribute to legendary figures like Domna Samiou and Filio Pyrgaki, proving that these traditional songs remain a vibrant part of the city's modern identity. With Christos Tsiamoulis on the kanonaki and Alexandros Arkadopoulos on the clarinet, it is a soulful exploration of the roots that still ground Greek culture today.
