Woof Festival 2026
Athens’ largest park, Pedion tou Areos, becomes the centre of the city’s pet community for a weekend of adoptions, demonstrations, and games. Now in its fourth year, the Woof Festival returns with a new addition: ‘The Meow Edition’, which puts a spotlight on stray cats alongside the traditional canine focus. It is a highly social event where the emphasis is firmly on responsible ownership and animal welfare. You can watch professional search and rescue displays, participate in agility trials, or join the ‘Little Trainers’ workshops where children learn the basics of pet communication.
The highlight of the weekend is the Stray Parade on Saturday evening, a moving showcase of rescue animals looking for a home. If you are attending with your own dog, note that they must be kept on a lead at all times and owners are responsible for cleaning up. There is also a dedicated market section featuring Easter candles and gifts, with proceeds supporting local animal welfare organisations.
