Open House Athens 2026: Emerging City
The 13th edition of Open House Athens returns with the theme Emerging City, turning the city once again into an open-air architectural museum. This time around, you get to explore the architecture currently rising and reshaping the urban fabric of Athens, focusing on the dialogue between the city’s deep-rooted history and its bold, contemporary future.
For one weekend, over 70 buildings, ranging from private residences and modern workspaces to historic monuments and cultural institutions, will open their doors for free guided tours. The event invites everyone to step behind the facades of the buildings we walk past every day and discover the design, history, and innovation hidden within.
Key Highlights of the 2026 Programme
OPEN TOURS (4–5 April): The heart of the festival, featuring free guided tours by volunteers across dozens of sites of architectural interest.
OPEN WALKS (28–29 March): Specialized thematic strolls through the city’s neighbourhoods, including a "Night Walk" by IFI Lighting and routes through Kypseli.
MADE IN ATHENS (28–29 March): A peek into the city's creative and production hubs, showcasing local designers and craftspeople in their workspaces.
OPEN SCHOOL (30 March & 3 April): Educational visits designed to engage the younger generation with the city's architectural heritage.
OPEN OFFICE (2–3 April): A rare opportunity to visit the studios of the architects and designers who are drafting the city's next chapters.
Entry is free and operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations required. To facilitate access, you will need to create a personal QR code via the official website, available one week before the event. Don’t miss the chance to take part in OPEN PHOTO (photography), OPEN VOTE (choosing the best tour), and OPEN your map. And then, it’s the turn of the TIME TO CLOSE PART to end this year’s OHA events.
