WOW Athens 2026
If you’re looking for the heartbeat of Athens this spring, head to the coast, where the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre is playing host to the WOW (Women of the World) Festival, and it’s shaping up to be the city’s most vibrant weekend yet.
The festival’s musical line-up is particularly top-tier this year. On Monday night, the incomparable Imany takes over the Stavros Niarchos Hall with her new project, Women Deserve Rage. It’s the kind of powerful, stripped-back performance that stays with you long after the final note. For those of you who like music in unexpected spaces, head to the National Library’s Book Castle on Friday to catch Greek pianist Tania Giannouli for jazz against a stunning backdrop.
But the magic of WOW really happens in the spaces between the big stages. Throughout the weekend, the Agora will be buzzing with free outdoor DJ sets from some of the coolest women on the decks, like Tina Edwards and She Came Out From Outer Space. It’s the perfect spot to grab a coffee, browse the curated WOW Marketplace, which is packed with local makers and women-led businesses, and soak up the Athenian sun.
If you’re up for something a bit more energetic, don’t miss the Y2K Roller Party on Saturday; it’s pure nostalgic fun and a great way to mingle. Between the big-hitting talks from powerhouses like Tarana Burke and the sharp wit of author Rumena Bužarovska, there’s a real sense of community in the air. Just a quick reminder: while much of the festival is free to wander through, the headline concerts and some talks require a ticket or a Festival Pass. They tend to go fast, so it’s worth nipping over to the SNFCC website to secure your spot sooner rather than later.
