Elesa Antypa: Torrents of Life
Currently on view at the Athens Art Gallery, Torrents of Life is the second solo painting exhibition by Elesa Antypa and a deeply reflective body of work shaped by themes of motherhood, nature and renewal. Through a series of twenty oil paintings on canvas and wood, Antypa explores the relationship between birth and regeneration, placing the human figure within symbolic landscapes charged with emotional and mythological resonance.
Drawing from personal experience while moving beyond autobiography, the works balance realistic portrayals of the body with more abstract fields of colour and texture. Flowing rivers, rocky forms and dense floral elements echo both the power of nature and the transformative force of motherhood. References to ancient Greek mythology and art history run quietly through the exhibition, creating images that feel intimate yet universal, grounded yet dreamlike.
