When was it built

The original building was erected in the 2nd century BC as a gift to Athens from King Attalos II. The Stoa (arcade) that houses the museum was reconstructed in the 1950s.

The Museum of the Ancient Agora is housed in the Stoa of Attalos and hosts all the discoveries from the excavations carried out by the American School of Classical Studies in the area.
